Barbara (Bee) Dieu has been involved in ELT (English Language Teaching) in Brazil for more than 30 years and has been taking part and organizing international collaborative projects online since 1997. She planned, designed and co-moderated the Electronic Village Online 2005 Blogging , 2007 Open Webpublishing and 2008 Social Media in ELT sessions and has published and given many presentations on blogging and social media. She is currently contributing to the Wikieducator project and participating in the Connected Futures workshop.
Her main areas of interest are the uses of open and participatory media in professional development, interaction and information transfer so as to promote and improve knowledge acquisition, international networking, global understanding, communication and creativity. She belongs to a number of communities of practice, among which Webheads in Action, TALO, Praxis, Vivência Pedagógica, Edublogosfera, BarcampBrasil.
Bee blogs at Wide Open Spaces and is one of the founders of dekita.org, which advocates participatory uses of Web in EFL/ESL . She is a self-taught and passionate photographer, cook and reader. She loves traveling and connecting with people.
