About me
Posted by joseantoniook under Uncategorized
My name is José Antônio da Silva. I am an English teacher in Brazil. At the moment I am based in Brasília. I have been teaching for over 15 years now. I like teaching all the four skills. I think all of them are challenging in their own ways. I hold a BA in psychology from the Universidade Católica de Goiás and an MA in TESOL from the Oklahoma City University in the United States. I think I am the kind person who is always interested in learning new things and I always try to work hard to improve my performance as a teacher and my knowledge of myself and of those around me. My dream project is to find a way of looking at global phenomena and use the insights from those far away realities to improve the lives of those in my community and my country. It may sound dreamy and unrealistic, but my psychology background tells that dreams are a serious matter.

It’s the dreams who make the world go round. There is a POrtuguese poem (The philosopher’s Stone) that says that. While i was reading your introduction I just could help remembering about it.
It goes like this (translation):
“They don’t know that dreams
are a constant part of life
as concrete and as real as
any other possible thing (…)
They neither know, nor dream,
that dreams command life.
That whenever a man dreams
the world bounces, advances,
as if it were a coloured ball
held by the hands of a child”
The entire poem and music here (a students’ project): http://www.malhatlantica.pt/esagbib/esag_ingles/poem.htm
What can I say - I am a dreamer myself, and so I can only ask you one favor: Please, don’t stop dreaming! [ Faça-me o favor de não parar de sonhar e inspirar!]

Hello Cristina,
Thanks a lot. I did not know the poem. It is really touching. Dreams are what we have to counter the tough reality of our lives. I am dreamer and many of the dreams I have had came true. I will never, ever stop dreaming.
